Kings Park Residents Face Weeks-Long Wait to See a Doctor

Reform UK's Kim Schmullian has spoken out about the growing primary care crisis affecting residents across Glasgow Cathcart, after being contacted by multiple constituents who are struggling to access timely GP appointments.

Residents in Kings Park, Simshill, and Cathcart village have described waiting up to three weeks for routine appointments, with some reporting difficulty even reaching their practice by phone during peak hours. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has acknowledged ongoing pressure on primary care services across the city.

Schmullian said: "A three-week wait to see your GP is not acceptable anywhere in Scotland, but it is particularly frustrating in an area like Kings Park where families have done everything right — they work hard, they pay their taxes, and they expect the NHS to be there for them when they need it."

She is calling on the Scottish Government to urgently address GP recruitment and retention, and to extend the roles of advanced nurse practitioners and pharmacists to ease pressure on family doctors.

"The SNP has had 17 years to fix the NHS in Scotland, and the evidence on our doorsteps says they have failed. Reform UK will make primary care investment a non-negotiable priority at Holyrood," Schmullian said.
