Schmullian Pushes for Higher School Standards Across the Constituency
Reform UK's Kim Schmullian has set out a strong education agenda for the Glasgow Cathcart constituency, calling for improved teacher recruitment, better school resources, and a relentless focus on raising standards across all local schools.
With Scotland's Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) scores declining in recent years, and concerns among parents about class sizes and curriculum quality, Schmullian argues that education must be a central issue in the 2026 Holyrood election.
Schmullian said: "Parents in Croftfoot, Kings Park, and Burnside want their children to have access to excellent schools with well-supported, well-paid teachers and the resources to deliver a first-class education. Scotland's educational decline under the SNP is a national embarrassment, and our children are paying the price."
She is calling for a real-terms increase in school funding, a focus on evidence-based teaching methods, and a commitment to reducing class sizes in key stages to improve learning outcomes for every child.
"Education is the most important investment a society makes in its future. Reform UK will fight for the schools that Cathcart's children deserve," she said.
