Schmullian Backs Cathcart Circle Rail Improvement Calls

Reform UK's Kim Schmullian has backed calls for improvements to the Cathcart Circle rail line, arguing that better train services are essential to reducing car dependency and improving quality of life for residents across the constituency.

The Cathcart Circle serves communities including Mount Florida, Cathcart, Kings Park, and Croftfoot, providing vital connections into Glasgow Central. However, residents have raised concerns about the frequency of services and the condition of some station facilities along the line.

Schmullian said: "The Cathcart Circle is a fantastic asset — a rail line running through the heart of our constituency connecting people to the city centre. But we need more frequent services, better station environments, and improved real-time information to make it the first choice for commuters rather than an afterthought."

She is calling on Transport Scotland and ScotRail to prioritise improvements to the Cathcart Circle as part of the next round of rail service enhancements, including increased off-peak frequency and accessibility upgrades at local stations.

"A better rail service means fewer cars on the road, cleaner air, and a better quality of life for everyone. Reform UK will champion investment in rail services that south Glasgow communities actually use," she said.
